Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1/2 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup green onion, finely chopped

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tsp Dijon mustard

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp paprika

1 tbsp olive oil

4 whole wheat burger buns

Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato slices, additional white cheddar cheese, and garlic aioli

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, green onion, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix until well combined but don’t overmix to keep the burgers tender.

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick.

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.

Cook the chicken patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F and are golden brown. If desired, add a slice of white cheddar cheese to each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a bun and adding your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato slices, and garlic aioli.

Serve the burgers hot and enjoy!
