Ingredients
  

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup whole milk, warmed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Apple Filling:

2 large apples, peeled and diced (preferably Granny Smith)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1-2 tablespoons milk (to adjust consistency)

Instructions
 

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

      - In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.

        - Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla to the yeast mixture. Then gradually add in the flour mixture until a soft dough forms.

          - Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

            Prepare the Filling:

              - In a medium bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter until well combined. Set aside.

                Assemble the Rolls:

                  - Once dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x24 inches).

                    - Spread the apple filling evenly across the dough rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges.

                      - Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal and slice into 12 equal rolls.

                        Bake the Rolls:

                          - Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

                            - Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) during this time.

                              - Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly.

                                Make the Cream Cheese Frosting:

                                  - In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until creamy. Gradually mix in powdered sugar and vanilla. Add milk a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.

                                    Serve:
