Ingredients

8 Hawaiian rolls

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

2 tbsp brown sugar

3 tbsp unsalted butter

1/4 cup maple syrup (for serving)

Fresh fruit (sliced bananas, strawberries, or pineapple for garnish)

Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

Begin by slicing each Hawaiian roll in half horizontally, creating plush, thick slices.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar until smooth and well combined.

Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a tablespoon of butter, allowing it to melt and coat the surface.

Dip each piece of the Hawaiian roll into the egg mixture, letting it soak for about 20-30 seconds. Ensure both sides are coated well but not overly soggy.

Place the soaked rolls onto the skillet or griddle, cooking for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy on the outside.

Add more butter to the skillet as necessary for subsequent batches, repeating the dipping and cooking process until all slices are cooked.

Serve warm with a drizzle of maple syrup, a dusting of powdered sugar (if desired), and a generous side of fresh fruit.
