Ingredients

12 large pasta shells

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)

1 egg, lightly beaten

2 cups marinara sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Pasta: Boil a large pot of salted water. Add the pasta shells and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool.

Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, chopped spinach, half of the grated Parmesan cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, beaten egg, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Stuff the Shells: Take the cooled pasta shells and carefully fill each shell with the ricotta and spinach mixture using a spoon or piping bag.

Prepare the Baking Dish: Spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Arrange the stuffed shells on top of the sauce.

Add More Sauce and Cheese: Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve warm.
